This desk organizer is a splendid specimen Fedoskino lacquered miniature art. The production of Fedoskino branch of Russian lacquered miniature painting is very varied and includes different snuffboxes, pencil-boxes, eyeglass cases, chain cases, plates, desk organizers and many other things produced together with traditional lacquered miniature boxes.
The piece depicts a picturesque panorama of modern Moscow painted in different tones of oil paints to produce a realistic view of the city. It includes three small round holes to provide the perfect place for storing pens and pencils and one big oval hole in the top of the piece. The interior of this big oval hole is covered with red lacquer whereas the exterior bottom of the piece is covered with black lacquer. The piece is constructed from paper-mache and rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed by the artist.
