The famous Fedoskino landscape painter Vladimir Serdotetskov created this originally shaped, large box. Serdotetskov loves Russian nature and in each of his brilliant boxes he shows his admiration aroused by the views of Russian countryside.
The box depicts a dull winter day. The cold sun shines through the dense clouds. The snowdrifts are deep and fluffy. Peasants come back to their warm, cozy wooden houses where they can warm themselves near a stove.
The landscape is painted in dark blue, grey and white tones of oils that successfully reflect the state of nature of the chosen season. Silver powder is used to paint the sun and also to create its majestic glow in the sky. To paint this winter landscape the artist has used the whole surface of the box except its exterior bottom and interior. The bottom part of the box's body is decorated with a wide gold ribbon. The box's exterior bottom is covered with black lacquer whereas its interior is covered with red lacquer.
The box is made out of paper-mache. The lid is hinged, and rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the name of the artist, Fedoskino, and the year of 2010.
