Description:

This magnificent box is the creation of talented Andrey Gaiduk from the village of Fedoskino. It features the picturesque view of old Moscow. In the composition the artist has painted the panorama of Malaya Dmitrovka Street and the first tram-line in Moscow. Working on this composition Gaiduk has used the old photo made in the end of the eighteenth century or in the beginning of the nineteenth century.
The palette is filled with white and pale brown tones of oils that correspond to the color palette of an old photo. Silver powder is used to paint the domes of the cathedrals, to highlight the roofs and the pavement.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The box's sides are decorated with two parallel silver lines. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name and the title ("Malaya Dmitrovka").
