This small adorable box is a creation of the famous Fedoskino painter Marina Rogatova. It depicts the family of Russian aristocrats of the eighteenth century. The work demonstrates Rogantova's impeccable painting technique and her easily recognizable style. The scene is painted in light tones of oils and richly detailed with brilliant gold paint. Gold paint is also used to decorate the box's sides with beautiful floral patterns.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. The exterior of the piece is painted with a creamy white lacquer while the interior is painted with a deep red lacquer. The lid is hinged from the left of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, and the village of Fedoskino.
