Description:

In this stunning box the Top 5 Fedoskino artist Sergey Kovlov has managed to express a charming beauty of the ancient Russian town of Suzdal. Russian medieval architecture of white stoned cathedrals and ramshackle wooden peasant houses look so cozy and touching. The scene is painted in light gray and blue tones of oils and this rather monotonous palette is enlivened by silver metal powder, mother-of-pearl inlay and gold metal paint that is used to paint the crosses of the cathedrals. In this work Kozlov has united two of his favorite themes - landscape and architecture and as usual here he displayed his high level of professionalism.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the box. The scene is framed with a silver band while the box's sides are decorated with two parallel silver bands. A hinge is fastened to the left of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed the artist's name, Fedoskino and the year of 2010.
