This adorable Fedoskino box is an original master work of Sergey Knyazev. The work is called "The Night Fairy", and shows the beautiful lady who represents an allegorical depiction of Night as the artist imagines it. With each her step, it becomes darker and darker in the street. She is accompanied by a black cat with green eyes shining in the darkness of a night. The artist continues to paint the beautiful view of a street at night on the reverse side of the box. Dark tones of oils suitable for depiction of the chosen theme predominate here. Pieces of mother-of-pearl that have bright greenish, pink, lilac, blue and yellow undertones shine through the street lamp, the lady's hair and the cat's flexible body. Silver powder is used to highlight the sky. The box's sides are decorated with an elegant pattern composed of tiny stars.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Blue lacquer mixed with gold powder is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer mixed with gold powder completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the left of the composition, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino, the title and the year of 2010.
