This gorgeous box has been painted by talented Fedoskino artist Olga Borisova.
Olga is famous for her beautiful portrait works. Quite often she is taken the special orders to paint a portrait of a person or family on a box from a photograph. Here we can see a good sample of her wonderful artistic skills! The painting of a Russian Merchant daughter in a costume of 19th century is done on the shining pearl surface. The scene is encompassed with a REAL gold-covered metal frame. The sides of the box is also decorated with pieces of mother-of-pearl, but different colors!
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The exterior of the piece is painted with a creamy white lacquer while the interior is covered with a beige velvety material. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition and the box rests on four small, rounded gold metal legs. The work is signed with the artist's name and the village of Fedoskino.
