Pavel Govorun from the village of Fedoskino created this magnificent box. It is called "Vasilisa the Beautiful", and features the Tsar's feast including numerous of guests ,court jester playing his tambourine, and the main character- Vasilisa the beautiful. The scene is painted over a small piece of mother-of-pearl, and richly detailed with gold paints!

The exterior of the box is decorated with the original patterns composed of silver metallic punch-outs - these are hand punched from the metal sheets and then painstakingly affixed by hand to the box!
This incredible box features the triumphant ending to the tale of Vasilisa the Beautiful, when the lovely maiden has overcome terrible adversity and married the tsar. As part of the celebration, Vasilisa is prompted to dance, and the guests raise their cups in respect.
The front and back each have a small arched scene and Govorun has painted his ornate signature on the inside of the lid.
The exterior of the box is covered with dark blue paint. The interior of the box is covered with red lacquer. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition. The box is signed with the artist's name, the year of 2009, the village of Fedoskino and the title ("Vasilisa the Beautiful").
