Description:

Sergey Kirsanov from the village of Fedoskino is known as a talented landscape and architecture painter. Being enchanted with the beauty of modest Russian nature, he created a series of works painted on this theme. These creations are penetrated the feeling of deep love to his native land with its ramshackle peasant houses, small wooden churches, boundless expanses of snow covered fields and evergreen forests.
The palette is filled with the tones that correspond to the depicted early Spring scene. To create a glow of the sunset the artist has used a mother-of- peal inlay that shines beautifully with pink and violet undertones through the skies.
The scene is framed with so called "scan patterns" composed of tiny shapes hand punched from silver metal sheets and then painstakingly affixed by hand to the box. The exterior is covered with black lacquer. For the box's additional decoration the sides of the box are studded with very thin white veins on the box's sides.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. A hinge is fastened to the top of the scene, and the box rests on two lines which are going on the edges of the bottom of the box. The work is signed with the artist's name.
