Description:

The name of Sergey Rogatov is familiar to any lacquer miniature enthusiast. His works are on display in various museums and lacquer art books!
Here the artist depicted a surreal summer landscape at the watering place. The midday sun shines brightly, casting its rays on the winding river, and its picturesque banks. The splendor of Russian countryside with its small villages in the middle of no-where and vast expanses of forests and fields is sensitively expressed here. Two bulls are watering in a river, several fishes can be seen in it's waters. We can see a small village on the background.
The half of the scene is painted in delicate and light yellow and gray oils and the water part is painted in light blue colors.
The scene is thinly outlined in gold. The painting is framed with a gold line. An intricate gold tartan pattern decorates the box's sides.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The box has a hinge to the left of the scene, and rests on a flat bottom. Signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino and the year of 2011.
