Description: This small and very attractive box has been painted by talented Fedoskino artist Tamara Volodina. Painted in various shades of blue and gray oils, it shows two elf-girls gathering the harvest of wild apples in a forest.
The scene is extended on the box's sides where the artist continues to paint flowers, herbs and ladybirds. Each of the ladybirds depicted here are crafted three-dimensionally. And here we can count six of them! The wings of Elf-girls are three dimensional too! Gold paint and gold metal leaf inlay are used to detail the costumes of the characters. A small piece of mother-of-pearl that shines with bright green-bluish undertones is set into the costume of the upper elf-girl. The lower girl is using her cloth to collect the apples into it.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The box's exterior is covered with creamy gray lacquer while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the left of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino, the title ("Apples from a Wood"), and the year of 2011 on the exterior of the base.
