Here Khomutinnikova has tried to express the dazzling beauty of autumn in a Russian village. The trees are covered with fiery orange-red foliage; flocks of birds leaving the north land disappear behind the horizon; the berries of mountain ash have ripened, and a girl feeds a bird with bright red berries.
The painting extends on the whole surface of the box. The scene is painted over gold metal paint, and shines brightly creating a festive mood. More sparkle and splendor comes from mother-of-pear set into the sky and some of the birds.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. The lid is hinged, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The interior is traditionally red. The work is signed with the artist's name, the year of 2006, and the village of Fedoskino.
