These two beautiful winter landscapes has been painted by Parmenov from the village of Fedoskino.They are painted on both sides of this purse-shaped box. The compositions shows the riverbank covered with deep snowdrifts and the river that reflects the bright sun rays.
The scene is mostly painted in white and blue tones that fit excellently for reproduction of a winter landscape. Mother-of-pearl is used to create the sun reflection in the skies. The trunks of some trees are highlighted with aluminum paints.
The scene is framed with thin gold line.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the bottom of the composition, and the box rests flat. The work is signed with the artist's name.
