Top 10 Fedoskino artist, Pavel Anokhin, has painted this little charming box.
As in many of his works Anokhin has used allegory. And here is the explanations that I got from Mr.Anokhin: Here we can see a painter who is doing a drawing of butterflies. Butterfly here is personified as a little creation (of God). And during the painting of it an artist start realized, that this beautiful little insect is also an ALIVE creation of God and it become a way of understanding of a Creator.
Anokhin's otherworldly style and subtle palette are easily recognizable. The palette includes very soft grey and brown tones. Gold metal powder shines through the hair of the artist. The composition is framed with a gold wavy band.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. Creamy gray lacquer covers the interior and dark blue lacquer covers the exterior of the box. The box has a hinge from the top of the composition, and rests flat. The box has a little metal "button" on the side of a lid for easy opening. The work is signed with the artist's name.
