This stunning box is a creation of the top 5 Fedoskino artist Sergey Kozlov. In the foreground the artist has painted the basket of mushrooms left by a mushroomer while in the background the picturesque country landscape is depicted.
The work is drawn in the painting style of Sergey Kozlov who has created a series of boxes dedicated to the theme of mushrooms. The landscape painted in the background is drawn in subdued blue and gray tones, whereas the basket painted over lustrous gold metal leaf shines brightly attracting the viewer's attention at first sight. A large piece of mother-of pearl is shines through some of the mushrooms while the others are painted over silver metal paint or drawn entirely in oils. Silver paint is also used to highlight the forest trees, and fill the scene with an almost unnoticeable sparkle.
The scene is framed with a thin gold line and on the sides of the box we can see some pine tree needles painted in gold.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer was used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes its interior. A hinge is fastened to the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. Signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino and the year of 2011 .
