This beautiful winter scene has been painted by Sergey Kirsanov. Artist Kirsanov is an expert in painting landscapes. Light blue, gray and brown tones of oils suitable for reproduction of an early Spring day dominate here. A large piece of mother-of-pearl is set into the part of the sky and glowing through and over the forest trees. The rooks are flying over the trees and making their nests.
The scene is framed with a gold line. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on two lanes at the bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name.
