This alluring box is a creation of Top 10 Fedoskino artist Marina Rogatova.
The work is called " At the Ball", and shows a beautiful young lady wearing a fancy dress. She wears fashionable masquerade clothes of the nineteenth century, same as her partner.
The scene is painted in bright tempera paints. Some elements of the lady's costume shine brightly being painted in gold over a piece of mother-of-pearl.
The scene is framed with a gold ornamentation at the bottom half of the composition.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Dark violet lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes its interior. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name and the title on the box's on the inside of the lid.
