This interesting work has been painted by the famous Fedoskino painter Viktor Tretyakov. Here he depicts two hunters having a smoking break at the edge of the forest on a country road.
The scene is painted in the realistic style using various shades of green and gray oils suitable for reproduction of a dull autumn day. Hunters having the costumes of the 19th century, the dogs are on leashes.
The edged of the lid are decorated with a thin gold line. Two parallel gold lines can be found wrapping around the box's sides.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on wavy feet. The work is signed with the artist's name.
