Lubov Krasnolobodtseva, from the village of Fedoskino is the talented artist who painted this masterful work. The box portrays a President of Russian Federation Dmitriy Anatalievich Medvedev. In this portrait the artist has managed to reproduce a photo like copy of a portrait.
The portraits like this one were very popular at the beginning of the ninetieth century. P.V. Lukutin factory produced a large quantity of lacquered boxes that depicted the portrait of famous recognizable persons.
The portrait is nicely painted using various tones of oils. The brown background shines with gold paint that has been used as an underlayer for the oils. The edges of the lid are adorned with a gold line.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the left of the portrait, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino and the year of 2011.
