Well-known artist Sergey Kirsanov from the village of Fedoskino is an expert in painting landscapes.
Here the artist depicts the view of a Russian country side. Beautiful summer day! The trees and grass are green.
Green, brown and gray tones suitable for reproduction of a summer time predominate here. A large piece of mother-of-pearl is set into the area of the sky.
The scene is framed with so called "scan patterns" composed of tiny shapes hand punched from gold metal sheets and then painstakingly affixed by hand to the box.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. Traditional red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The box has a hinge from the top of the scene, and rests on two parralel lanes of the bottom.
The box is signed by the artist.
