Description: The painting style of Dmitry Tipyakov is unique and recognizable. Dmitry inherited the talent of an artist from his mother, Tatyana Tipyakova, the famous Fedoskino landscape painter. He likes to paint his works on the theme of Russian history ("Ancient Russia"), to depict well-known architectural monuments ("St.-Basil's Cathedral"); in his works he also likes to extol the beauty of Russian countryside ("Haymaking Time", "Russian Hunt"), and to ponder over the space theme ("New Words", "A New Land", "The Earth", etc.)
This work is based on "Lord of The Rings"- an epic high fantasy novel written by philologist J.R.R. Tolkien. On the front side of this unusual-shaped box we can see a battle of evil and goodness and we can recognize some of the major characters of this novel.
Various shades of grays and blues are dominated here. Lustrous gold paint shines through the oils in some areas. The ring on the top of the box is also was painted in gold.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. A hinge is fastened to the top of the box, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, the title and the year of 2011.
