One of the leading Fedoskino painters, Pavel Anokhin, has painted this charming small box that shows a Carousel in Circus.
Anokhin's otherworldly style and subtle palette are easily recognizable. The palette includes very soft gray and brown tones. Silver metal powder shines through the beard of the Hand-organer on the left and the feathers on his hat. The golden leaf is shines through Hand organ's handle.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The box has a hinge from the top of the composition, and rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name.
