This elegant piece of genuine Russian artistry was composed by the famous Fedoskino Master Rogatov Sergey. The exacting flow between colors and characters is always key in any piece by the artist. This exceptional work is surely no exception.
The box features multiple scenes from the story of, "Snowmaiden".
The scene is featured the kingdom of Tsar Berendey during winter season. The dominant blues used for the background in the composition are very pleasing to the eye. The painting is very detailed, large piece of mother-of-pearl is used to create luminous effect of a forest in the middle of the box.
The scene is framed with a gold line. The box's sides are decorated with the Scottish lines.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. Light blue lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The box has a hinge above the scene, and rests on a flat bottom. Signed with the artist's name and the village of Fedoskino.
