Description: This interesting composition was painted by the famous Fedoskino artist Pavel Anokhin. His style is unusual for Fedoskino School of miniature painting. To a great extent it is close to the style of surrealism. In painting and sculpture surrealism is one of the leading influences of the 20th century. In this century it also admired, and included in its exhibitions, works by the Italian Giorgio de Chirico, the Russian Marc Chagall, the Swiss Paul Klee, the French artists Marcel Duchamp and Francis Picabia, and the Spaniard Pablo Picasso. Surrealist painting exhibits great variety of content and technique. That of Salvador Dali, for example, consists of more or less a direct and photographic transcription of dreams.
Here we can see a young man and a young woman hunting for a Dragonfly. On the back side we can see other people also walking with the nets. The trees are of pyramid shapes and looks surreal.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. Blue lacquer covers the exterior and creamy gray covers the interior of the box.The interior is decorated with a light thin continues line, which is going from the frame on the top to the sides. The composition has a frame: one part of it is painted and there is a band of mother-of pearl in it as well. The box has a hinge to its top and rests on four small metal foot. It is signed at the bottom of the composition and titled ("A Walk") on the front side with a stylish painted tag.
