This oval-shaped box has been painted by the well-known Fedoskino artist Yegeniy Solodilov.This box is signed with his former name-Kukin. It is so pity, that the artist has past us away so young in 2009.
The box shows an episode from a tale of Sadko.Here we can see Sadko playing on gusli for a Sea Tsar, on the foreground we can see his ship.
The scene is painted in gray and blue tones of oils. Gold paint is used to high light the details of a ship on the background. A large piece of mother of pearl is shines from the whole composition. The scene is extended on the box's sides where the artist continues to paint.
The artist has written his name, the title ("Sadko"), Fedoskino, and the year of 1995 on the inside of the lid. Sadko is also written at the top of the composition. The interior is traditionally covered with red lacquer.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. It has a hinge from the left of the scene and rests on a flat bottom.
