This interesting work has been painted by the famous Fedoskino painter Viktor Tretyakov. Here he depicts several hunters doing the last preparations before the hunt. The scene is painted in the realistic style using various shades of blue and gray oils suitable for reproduction of a winter morning. One of the hunters checking the horses, while another one is checking the dogs.
The composition is framed with a gold line. Two parallel gold lines can be found wrapping around the box's sides.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on eight wavy feet. The work is signed with the artist's name.
