Description: This splendid box is the original author's work of the talented Oleg Nechaev from the village of Fedoskino. It features several scenes and characters from a Tale of a Golden Rooster.
We can see all major characters of a tale: Tsar Dadon ,the Astrologer ,Golden Cockerel and the Shemakha Queen, Tsar Dadon's troops at the head of one of Dadon's sons set out to defeat the enemy.
The main idea of this Alexander Pushkin's fairy-tale: the Astrologer manipulates the Shemakha Queen like a marionette, the Shemakha Queen, in her turn, manipulates Tsar Dadon's sons ready to kill each other.
The scene is mostly painted in contrast oils-blacks on white. The artist masterfully used golden foil and golden paint to richly highlighted the details of the characters.
The box's exterior is decorated with so called "scan patterns" composed of tiny beads and romps hand punched from silver metal sheets and then painstakingly affixed by hand to the box.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged to the left of the scene, and rests on four legs. Signed with the artist's name and title "Tale of the Golden Rooster".
