This interesting piece of Russian lacquer artistry was created by Fedoskino artist Vladimir Rogatov. His creations frequent many publications exploring the subject of Russian lacquer miniatures.
The box shows several recognizable views of St.Petersburg, as as St.Isaak Cathedral, Monument to Peter the Great and others. All of them are painted with a precise quality and very detailed.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. The top of the box is a glass decorated with a white tartan patterns. The box's exterior and interior are covered with white lacquer. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on four small rounded legs. The work is signed with the artist's name and Fedoskino under St.Isaac's view.
