This very detailed composition was painted by talented Fedoskino artist Danchenko Taisia. The composition is showing a Jewish family at the table. The Grandfather is reading a book and teaches the grandson.
The scene is framed with a golden bead ornament. The edge of the lid as well as the entire base of the box are painted using the unique dye-resist method. The box is dipped into a mixture of colored oils, water, and paint thinner and then removed to create the cream stone-like design you see here(stone like imitation).
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. A hinge is fastened to the top of the scene, and the box rests flat. The work is signed with the artist's name and Fedoskino.
