This exquisite piece of Russian lacquer artistry was created by established Fedoskino master Alexander Chirkov. Here he has managed to express beauties of the Moscow downtown: Kremlin, St.Basil's cathedral, the Temple of Christ the Savior. Using a delicate palette filled with pale red and blues the artist creates a feeling of a hazy morning. The most part of the scene is highlighted richly with shining gold and silver paint. Gold and silver glistens of the architecture create a surreal atmosphere.
Gold band wraps around the base of the box. The interior is traditionally covered with red lacquer the interior is painted in gray color.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. The box has a hinge, and rests on a flat bottom. The artist wrote the title (The beauties of Moscow), his name and 2011.
