This strikingly beautiful box is a creation of Alexander Mikheev who is one of the most talented Fedoskino painters. Precise craftsmanship and masterful design dictate Mikheev's masterful creativity. His works has won many prizes at various exhibitions in Russia and abroad.
The work is called "Silence". This word reflects a sense of a little melancholy that the Russians feels when they contemplates the modest Russian nature. The reason of this melancholy is a sincere love to the native land!
On this composition we can see a yard in the ancient Russian town.Old houses still has "nalichniki"( or platbands) aroung the windows, part of the houses are wooden and they has old wooden fences...There are thousands of such towns all over Russia. The life is almost stopped, the youth has moved to the big cities for the bigger salaries, education and other possibilities...
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. Its exterior and interior are covered with black lacquer. It has a hinge from the top of the composition and rests on two wavy platforms. The work is signed with the artist's name, 2014 and the village of Fedoskino on the exterior of the bottom of the box.
