This detailed and well-known composition was painted by Shavirin Boris from Fedoskino. It shows a village beauty standing at the fence.
The first time this subject was painted in the end of 1800s.
The appealing face of young lady is painted so skillfully that we can read on it different emotions and thoughts; colorful peasant's costume is painted with a lot of details and we can see a large piece of mother-of-pearl of a green color inlayed under this cotume. The palette used is based on earthtones that help to reproduce a rural landscape; the exception is the gold-colored cloth of the young lady.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The composition is framed with gold lane. The sides of the box are adorned with a mixture of brown oils, that looks like a brown marble. A hinge is fastened to the left of the composition. The box rests on a flat bottom. It is signed with the name of the artist, village and year (2014).
