This magnificent work was painted by the outstanding Fedoskino artist Pavel Anokhin. It is painted in the style which is unusual for Fedoskino School of miniature painting. To a great extent it is close to the style of surrealism.
The work is called "A game", and shows two persons in the costumes of clowns. One of them is using a net to catch butterfly, and the other one is trying not obviously to pull a gold thread, that comes from a butterfly...
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. Dark blue lacquer covers the exterior and creamy gray lacquer covers the interior of the box. The box has a hinge to its top and rests on four rounded metal legs. The work is signed with the artist's name.
