The box shows a person from the popular Russian fairy-tale "The Snowmaiden". The Snowmaiden isn't a human being; she is the daughter of nature. Her parents, Fairy Spring and Mighty Winter. She wants to know what love is, and asks her parents to let her live with people.
The composition is painted in dark blue tones of oils that successively reproduce the atmosphere of the tale. The most part of the composition shines with mother-of-pearl inlays set into different parts of the scene. Mother-of-pearl inlays sparkle with a variety of undertones raging from bright green to delicate violet.
The box's exterior is beautifully decorated. The box's lid can be opened with the help of a golden knob attached to the front of the lid's sides. The box's exterior is covered with dark blue color and the sides are decorated with winter tree patterns. The interior is traditionally covered with red lacquer.
The box is constructed from quality paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the left of the scene, and the box rests on four small round legs. The work is signed, dated (2015) and titled by the artist in gold paints on the lid's interior.
