Description: Strelkina Nadezhda is the famous Fedoskino artist who painted this beautiful portrait of a Russian peasant woman. She is dressed in the traditional Russian costume and holds in hands a neckless made of bright red ashberries.
Gold paint creates brilliance of the woman's costume, the basket, the trees and some of the plants. The box's sides are beautifully decorated with branches of a ash leaves painted in gold and accented with oil paints.
A piece of mother-of-pearl is shines through the kokoshnik on the head of a girl.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the left of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, and the village of Fedoskino and 1999.
