Description:

Here is another creation of the prominent artist Nikolay Zotov. He ranks as one of the best contemporary Masters in Fedoskino, whose creations are displayed in each catalog on the Russian lacquer art. This artist has a peculiar style, and very often his boxes are originally shaped, that is why it is always easy to recognize his unique creations. This interesting installation has also a unique shape!
Here the artist has painted and made the original shape box with Baba Yaga. Baba-Yaga is the oldest character of the Slavonic mythology. Originally Baba-Yaga was the goddess of death; people imagined her as a woman with the snake tail who guarded the entrance into the other world and accompanied the souls of dead people into the Kingdom of the Dead. Baba-Yaga is the most famous figure in Russian fairy-tales that represents evil. It is a character of such fairy-tales as "Marya Morevna", "Princess Frog", "The Tale of Life Water and Youth Giving Apples", and many, many others.
Here Baba-Yaga has got a poisonous mushroom in one hand and flying mortal in other hand and stayed in her wooden hut, rested on the chicken legs.
Like in most of his works, here the artist has created a multi-layered composition to get a three-dimensional effect.
The installation is constructed from paper-mache and epoxy rosin, painted by oils. The work is signed with the artist's name .
