This box is a creation of Alexander Mikheev who is one of the most talented Fedoskino landscape painters. Here he has managed to express a special charm of Russian countryside with its ramshackle peasant houses, and neglected churches.
"Winter laces" is the title of this work and shows winter in a Russian village. The village is hidden between the forest trees, covered with snow.
Sincere love to his native land inspired Mikheev to create a series of works dedicated to extolling the modest beauty of the Russian countryside. We can remember such splendid works from this series as "A Hidden Sorrow", "The Outskirts", "A Poet with a Brush", "An Apple Saviour" that have been exhibited on our website. This enchanting box continues this series.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior and the interior of the piece. The lid is hinged from the top of the lid, and the box rests on platform bordered the bottom. The work is signed, dated (2017) and titled by the artist at the bottom of the box in white oils.
