The painting style of Alexander Mikheev is unique and recognizable. It is notable for superb technique, compositional mastery, and a special charm of his magnetic boxes. Most of all this artist likes to paint landscapes, ancient Russian architecture and themes from Russian history. In his works he manages to combine successfully the styles of surrealism and classic realism, and this exquisite box is a splendid example of it.
The work is called "Luck", and shows fishermans. One of them is a really lucky man, he is trying to get out of water big fish...
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while same black lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the left of the composition, and the box rests on four small legs. Signed with the artist's name, the title, Fedoskino and the year of 2017.
