Description:

Famous Sergey Kozlov from the village of Fedoskino created this splendid winter scene. Sergey is a living legend of the Lacquer Miniature Art. His unique works are displayed in every latest catalogue or book on the Russian Lacquer Art! As well as many museums and private collectors are proud to have any of his masterpiece! It is a pleasure to acquire a work of such prominent artist.
Snowy expanses of Russian countryside and the white-stoned church that rises above a small town of Suzdal are brilliantly painted. Kozlov paints with a fine brush, achieving almost invisible transitions of colors. Refined oil-painting techniques give this scene depth and life.
Various shades of blue color helps to reproduce atmosphere of a winter day. Aluminum powder covered the whole area of the skies, while the surface of copulas and the snow, tones beautifully with the main bluish palette. A cleverly added inlay of mother-of-pearl shines through the domes of the chrch on the rigt hand side, and through the area of bushes of the tree painted in the foreground and the moon.
The scene is framed with a gold line. The box's sides are decorated with so called "scan" decoration. Plus there are several snow flakes are painted in gold.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes its interior. Round box has a hinge from the top of the composition and rests on a flat bottom. Signed with the artist name, Fedoskino and dated (2018) by the dark oils under the composition.
