Description: This box is consist of three compartments with three lids and a drawer on the front side. Well-known Fedoskino artist Alexander Maslov has painted this masterpiece.
The work is called " In awaiting" and shows us Baba Yaga, the heroine of several Russian fairy-tales.
Baba Yaga is the oldest character of the Slavonic mythology. Originally Baba Yaga was the goddess of death; people imagined her as a woman with the snake tail who guarded the entrance into the other world and accompanied the souls of dead people into the Kingdom of the Dead. Baba-Yaga is the most famous figure in Russian fairy-tales that represents evil. It is a character of such fairy-tales as "Marya Morevna", "Princess Frog", "The Tale of Life Water and Youth Giving Apples", and many, many others.
In this composition Baba-Yaga is sit in front of her Hut, which stand on the chicken legs. On the left lid we can see a young man, who sit surround red poisonous mushroom-fly agarics. Under this man we can see an Owl. The Cat is sit at the roof of the house. And gray Wolf is painted on the right lid .In front of Baba Yaga's hut we can see a mortar with a broom, which Baba is sometimes use to fly.
The box's exterior and the sides are decorated with golden lines painted over the mixture of the paint , imitatimg green marble. The box's interior is red.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. A hinge is fastened to the top of the compositions , and the box rests on four legs. The work is signed with the year of 2017, Fedoskino, and the artist's name.
