Description: Sergey Kozlov from the village of Fedoskino created this splendid winter scene.
Sergey is a living legend of the Lacquer Miniature Art! His unique works are displayed in every latest catalogue or book on the Russian Lacquer Art! As well as many museums and private collectors are proud to have any of his masterpiece! It is a pleasure to acquire a work of such prominent artist.
Snowy expanses of Russian countryside and the white-stoned church that rises above a small town of Suzdal are brilliantly painted. Kozlov paints with a fine brush, achieving almost invisible transitions of colors. Refined oil-painting techniques give this scene depth and life.
Various shades of gray and light blue colors helps to reproduce atmosphere of a winter day.
Pieces of mother-of-pearl are shining from several places of the composition
(from the left to the right): part of the wooden house; all parts of the wooden tree fence(at the foreground); the major tree in the middle of the composition is painted over the large piece of perl; the domes and the walls of the church are painted over a large piece of mother-of-pearl and two magpies to the right in the skies are also painted over the pearl!!!
And by the way, Suzdal is probably the only town, where on a small area of 9000 square meters over 30 Churches are located!
The sides and the bottom of the base of the box are decorated with gold paint put on a box spontaniously and adding brilliant effect! Silver line is wraping the sides of the box as well.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. White cream lacquer is used to paint the exterior and the interior of the box. It has a hinge from the top of the composition and rests on a flat bottom. Signed with the artist name, Fedoskino and dated (2019) by the grey oils under the composition.
