This splendid box was painted by talented artist Osipova Larisa from the village of Fedoskino. It shows Baron Munchausen, the main character of Rudolf Erich Raspe's (1736-1794) famous literary creation "The Surprising Adventures of Baron Munchausen".
The artist depicted Baron Munchausen flying on a cannon ball. And we remember another amazing story happend with Baron Munchausen about the cherry tree growing out of the stag's head.
This scene is painted in bright tones.
The scene is framed with a thin gold line. Two parallel gold lines wrap around the box's sides.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the left of the scene, and the box rests on the four legs. The work is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino and 2019.
