Description:

Vladislav Maslov from Fedoskino has painted the scene depicted on this box. It is a fine specimen of an oil based painting, which adheres to the principle techniques and methods of the Fedoskino style. It is an artist's original composition as well, which was taken straight from the creative depths of his head, to paper, and then finally to this box.
The box shows Baba-Yaga sitting inside her magic hut on chicken legs.
Baba-Yaga is the oldest character of the Slavonic mythology. Originally Baba-Yaga was the goddess of death; people imagined her as a woman with the snake tail who guarded the entrance into the other world and accompanied the souls of dead people into the Kingdom of the Dead.
Baba Yaga is the most famous figure in Russian fairy tales that represents evil. It is a character of such fairy-tales as "Marya Morevna", "Princess Frog", "The Tale of Life Water and Youth Giving Appels", and many, many others. Baba-Yaga depicted here is a main character of the Russian folk fairy-tale "Princeess Frog". In this tale Prince Ivan burned the skin of the Frog, his wife, and wife Vasilisa has to return to her father Kashey. Baba-Yaga has helped Ivan to find him his wife.
On the backside of the composition we can see Prince Ivan coming to het Hut.The wolf of the huge size is protecting and sheltering Baba Yaga.
Golden paint is used to highlight the details of the costumes and the sunset.
A waving purple ribbon acts as a frame for the top of the scene. Gold line is framed the composition and also can be found on the edge of the base of the box. The box's interior is covered with red paint. The exterior is also decorated with variously shaped leaves that are drawn in silver paint and detailed with bright oils.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. A hinge is fastened to the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom.
Composition is signed with the title of the work and the artist's name.
