This originally shaped box showing some peasants at a trade fair was painted by Fedoskino artist Sergey Zotov. It's a sunny winter day. A guy to the right is selling of bubliki (bagels) and tea from Samovar.
On the front we can see a lad and two girls who are going down the hill on a sled! They are laughing and smiling! Winter outdoor fun!
Behind them, in the background, we can see a shopping row and groups of people buying different goods.
The artist demonstrates filigree skill in decorating small objects with amazing precision.
The scene is very colorful, festive and decorative. The white tones of snow don't look monotonous owing to the characters' costumes painted in bright tones and highlighted with golden paint.
White lacquer with colorful streaks of blue is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work.The box has a hinge from the left of the scene and the box/installation rests flat. The work is signed with the artist's name and tittle on the side of the box.
