Talented artist and a teacher from the village of Fedoskino Belova Margarita has painted this attractive box. It features a romantic girl that is looking at a Swan in front of her.
Exceptional technique and masterful skill are needed to create this work. It is as entrancing as it is traditional. The colors are soft and contrasting in some places. The cloth of the girl and feathers of the Swan are very detailed.
A piece of mother-of-pearl shimmers throught a girl's fan, that she has in her hand.
A sheet of golden foil is used to make the shining the skies.
The composition is framed with a band. The band is consist of two gold lines and mixture of blue and gold colors in between these two lines. Same ornamentation wraps around the box's sides.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the left of the portrait, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name and Fedoskino.
