Vladislav Maslov from Fedoskino has painted the scene depicted on this box. It is a fine specimen of an oil based painting, which adheres to the principle techniques and methods of the Fedoskino style. It is an artist's original composition as well, which was taken straight from the creative depths of his head to this box!
The box shows Baba-Yaga flying over the pond in her mortal.On a background we can see her magic hut on chicken legs. The composition is very unusual, because we can the reflection of Bab Yaga in the water. Also on the foreground we can see a mermaid.
Baba-Yaga is the oldest character of the Slavonic mythology. Originally Baba-Yaga was the goddess of death; people imagined her as a woman with the snake tail who guarded the entrance into the other world and accompanied the souls of dead people into the Kingdom of the Dead.
Baba Yaga is the most famous figure in Russian fairy tales that represents evil. It is a character of such fairy-tales as "Marya Morevna", "Princess Frog", "The Tale of Life Water and Youth Giving Appels", and many, many others.
The scene is drawn in dark tones as the action takes place in the evening and surround the trees. Mother-of-pearl inlay can be found as a full moon .
The box's sides are covered with a brown paint. The artist has signed the box with the title of the work, the artist's name and the year of 2019.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. A hinge is fastened to the left of the scene, and the box rests on the four legs.
