Description: This very large box was painted by a well-known Fedoskino artist Frolova Tatiana.
The box shows a trading day at the Market on frosty winter day. Several girls wrapped in warm shawls have come to this place, checking the stuff of a seller, who is selling necklesses and scarfs. Near by a man is drinking tea from Samovar and a shot of vodka. Behind them, in the background, we can see several kiosks and groups of people buying and selling different goods, as well as bufoon with a trained Bear.
The artist demonstrates filigree skill in paintng such objects with amazing precision.
We can find two pieces of mother-of-pearl in this composition. The one is hides under the "body" of samovar, and the second one - the the scarf of a girl in the middle of the scene.
The sides of the box are richly decorated with intricate ornament painted in gold.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition, and the box rests on four legs.
The work is signed with the artist's name, the year of 2008 and the village of Fedoskino.
