This splendid view of the St.Basil's Cathedral in Moscow's Red Square has been painted by the talented Fedoskino artist Tugarinova Galina.
The artist has used bright red tones of oils to paint the cathedral whereas the buildings located in the background are painted in light and dark gray tones. This creates the depth of the composition, and focuses the viewer's attention on the cathedral. A piece of mother-of-pearl shines brightly through the architecture of the cathedral. Additional luster of the cathedral comes from silver paint.
The scene is outlined with gold pattern. The box's sides are decorated with similar elegant pattern painted in gold.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the piece. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition, and the box rests on the four legs.
