Description:

This original scene was painted by an established Fedoskino artist Marie Wagner.
In this composition we can see several generations of a family, which are having fun outdoor in Summer. Young girl is dancing, her brother is playing wooden ratchet, Grand Dad is playing on hurdy-gurdy , while their Dad is playing horn pipe.
It is Summer time, at the feet of all the players and singers we can see field Summer flowers!
In the background we can see a magnificent wooden log house, the windows of which are richly decorated with elegant architraves. Behind this house we can see an elegant wooden church, which is typical for the Russian north. One of the magnificent examples of such wooden architecture is the church complex on Kizhi Island, built without a single nail!
The structure of the church is painted very precisely, each plank and angle defined and dimensionally shaded. The landscape is painted with smooth watercolor like brushstrokes.
The palette is one commonly used by Wagner. Green, red and blue colours are vivid and bright here. Wagner's style is unique to Fedoskino, and can easily be distinguished from other artists' styles. Aluminum powder combined with the oil paints gives a luminescent quality to the clothing, the city landscape and to the sky in the background. This is a striking composition from all angles.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The exterior of the box is painted with black lacquer while the interior is completed with dark red lacquer. A hinge is fastened to the top of the box. The box rests on a wavy platform with six legs. The work is signed with the artist's name and village of Fedoskino.
