Description:

This exquisite piece was created by talented Kholui master Yevgeniy Vlasov. It is a definite treasure among authentic Russian artistry.
The artist has chosen to depict a scene from the heart warming story of "The Snow Queen." Here we see the Snow Queen soaring through the air with her prize of manipulation, Kay, the helpless brother of the determined Gerda. The Snow Queen is on her way back to her frozen kingdom in an attempt to elude the heroic intentions of the boy's sister.
The artist places the focal point of the composition in the center of the dome shaped lid. This truly gives the impression of the Snow Queen in the midst of rapid flight. The town is painted in the background and seems that it is located below the clouds. Cool tones of blue and turquoise dominate the composition. Aluminum powder creates glistening of the snow, highlights the bodies of fantastically beautiful blue steeds and details other elements of the composition. Gold paint details the foliage of the trees depicted from the left and right of the composition. Divine imagination.
The box is constructed from quality paper-mache. The decoration around the sides of the box is a creative delight. Elaborately painted gold and aluminum floral patterns shine brightly easily drawing the viewer's eye owing to its beauty and original design.
The exterior of the piece is painted with black lacquer while the interior is painted with red lacquer. The box rest on a flat bottom and its lid is hinged from the top. The artist has written his name, the title of the piece, the village name of Kholui, the year of 2004 of which the piece was finished, the materials out of which the piece was made, and the identification that it is the original work on the interior of the lid.
